To the media writing about research in nuclear power.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the International Conference on Fast Reactors and Related Fuel Cycles: Next Generation Nuclear Systems for Sustainable Development (FR17)!
This conference is one of the traditional major IAEA events held every four years. Such conferences are important steps in identifying the priority areas in the corresponding research field. Given that Russia is among the leaders in the field of fast reactor technologies included in the strategic priorities of the nuclear power industry development, it seems appropriate to organize this conference in Russia.
The conference format was agreed at the joint meeting of the International Advisory Committee of the Conference and the IAEA Secretariat on July 11, 2016, in Vienna. In addition, the General Chairman of the Conference (V. A. Pershukov) and the Chairman of the International Program Committee (L. A. Bolshov) were approved at this meeting.
In addition to the plenary session on the first day of the Conference, eight parallel sessions were offered to be conducted on the following thematic areas of the fast reactors: innovations in designing, safe management and decommissioning of the fast reactors, fuel technologies and construction materials, environmental issues and radioactive waste control, experiments and modeling, fuel cycles, non-proliferation issues, and economic aspects of the fast reactors.
